Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 23, 2026 Last updated: August 23, 2026
Twist is a tournament management platform for pickleball, operated by Twisted Pickle LLC doing business as Twist ("Twist," "we," "us," or "our").
This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it. We've tried to write it in plain English rather than legalese.
If you have questions about anything here, email privacy@twisttourneys.com.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to everyone who uses Twist, including:
Players who create accounts and register for tournaments
Tournament directors who create and run events on Twist
Facilities and venues that host events managed through Twist
Visitors to twisttourneys.com
You must be 18 or older to create a Twist account. Twist is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Junior players may compete in events managed on Twist, but their registration is handled by a parent, guardian, or tournament director through that adult's account. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at privacy@twisttourneys.com and we will remove it.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
Account information. Your name, email address, phone number, and password when you create an account.
Player profile information. Skill rating or self-rated level, age or age division, gender division, city or region, playing partner preferences, and any profile photo you upload.
Tournament registration information. The events and divisions you enter, your partner's identity in doubles events, waiver acknowledgements, and any notes or accommodations you provide to a tournament director.
Payment information. When you pay an entry fee, our payment processor collects your card or bank details directly. We do not receive or store your full card number. We receive a confirmation of payment, the amount, the last four digits of the card, and the billing name and postal code.
Communications. Messages you send to us or to tournament directors through Twist, and support requests.
Information we collect automatically
Match and results data. Scores, match times, court assignments, brackets, standings, and event results. This is the core of what Twist does, and results data is generally public within the context of the event.
Device and usage data. IP address, browser and device type, operating system, pages viewed, and the dates and times you use Twist. We use this to keep the service running, diagnose problems, and understand which features get used.
Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and measure how the site is used. You can block cookies in your browser, but parts of Twist may stop working properly.
Photos and video
Tournaments are public events, and photos or video may be captured at them — by us, by tournament directors, by facilities, or by other participants — and uploaded to Twist. These may show your face, name, or play.
By participating in an event managed on Twist, you acknowledge that images of you may be captured and displayed in connection with that event. If you would like a photo or video of you removed, email privacy@twisttourneys.com and we will remove it from Twist promptly. We cannot remove images that other people have shared on platforms we don't control.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
Create and manage your account
Register you for tournaments and communicate about events you've entered
Run events — generate brackets, assign courts, record scores, publish results
Process entry-fee payments and issue receipts
Send you transactional messages such as registration confirmations, schedule changes, court assignments, and match alerts
Send you marketing emails about Twist, only if you've opted in — every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing never affects transactional messages about events you've entered
Provide customer support
Improve the product, diagnose problems, and monitor performance
Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Use
Comply with legal obligations
4. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We share information in these situations:
Tournament directors and facilities
When you register for an event, the tournament director running that event receives the information they need to run it: your name, contact information, division and rating, partner, payment status, and your results. Facilities hosting the event may receive similar information.
This is the most important sharing to understand. Tournament directors are independent operators, not Twist employees. Once they have your information, their own privacy practices apply to it. We require them to use it only for running the event, but we don't control what they do outside Twist. If you have a concern about how a tournament director handled your information, contact us and we'll help.
Other participants and the public
Your name, division, seeding, results, and standings are visible to other participants and are generally published as part of the event record. Tournament results are public information by nature. Your email address, phone number, and payment information are never shown publicly.
Service providers
We use third-party companies to operate Twist. Each receives only what it needs:
Payment processing — payment and billing details, handled directly by the processor
Email delivery — your email address and message content
Hosting and infrastructure — data stored and processed on our behalf
Analytics and error monitoring — usage and device data
Legal and safety
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order; to enforce our Terms of Use; or where we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent harm to someone.
Business transfers
If Twist is acquired, merged, or sells substantially all its assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction. We'll notify you before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
5. How long we keep your information
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward in case you return.
Tournament results are kept indefinitely. Competitive history is the point of a tournament platform — players, directors, and rating systems rely on it. Results remain associated with your name even after you close your account.
Payment records are kept as long as required for tax, accounting, and dispute purposes. Support communications are kept for a reasonable period.
6. Your choices and rights
Access and correction. You can view and edit most of your information in your account settings.
Deletion. You can ask us to delete your account by emailing privacy@twisttourneys.com. We will delete your profile and contact information. As noted above, we retain tournament results and records we're required to keep.
Marketing emails. Unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email, or email us.
Cookies. Manage these in your browser settings.
If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion, to request correction, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. As stated above, we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email privacy@twisttourneys.com.
If you live in another state with a privacy law (such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, or Oregon), you have comparable rights. Use the same email address and we'll handle your request under the law that applies to you.
We will verify your identity before acting on a request, and we'll respond within the timeframe the applicable law requires.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls limiting who on our side can see what.
No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security. Use a strong, unique password and tell us immediately at support@twisttourneys.com if you think your account has been accessed without your permission.
8. Where your information is processed
Twist is operated from the United States, and your information is stored and processed there. If you use Twist from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
9. Third-party links
Twist may link to sites we don't operate — facility websites, rating systems, sponsors. This policy doesn't cover those sites, and we're not responsible for their practices. Read their policies before giving them information.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Twist develops. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and notify you by email or through the app before the changes take effect. Continuing to use Twist after that means you accept the updated policy.
